Building AI Fluency and Career Readiness: Geotab Interns Complete High-Impact Placements

OAKVILLE, ON, Aug. 27, 2026
OAKVILLE, ON, Aug. 27, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — As another cohort of interns wrap up their placements, Geotab is highlighting the real-world impact of its student talent program. Across technical and business functions, departing interns leave with direct experience applying enterprise artificial intelligence tools, telematics, and data analytics to active business challenges.
Throughout their terms, interns work alongside full-time teams to gain practical training in enterprise AI platforms like GIA (Geotab Internal AI Assistant). Rather than limiting internships to introductory tasks, Geotab emphasizes responsible AI integration—teaching students to evaluate data critically, apply human oversight and assess when automated tools best accelerate business outcomes.
“Our goal is to give interns direct experience with modern technology tools so they can solve real business challenges,” said Klaus Boeckers, Chief People Officer at Geotab. “By integrating platforms like GIA into daily workflows, we help students develop practical problem-solving skills that prepare them to excel in their academic studies and technology-driven careers.”
A central component of the experience is the Intern Innovation Challenge, where cross-functional student teams collaborate with mentors across departments. Interns identify operational inefficiencies and contribute to custom AI workflows that are reviewed and assessed by Geotab leadership, learning how technology supports human expertise in a commercial setting. The Intern Challenge gave students the opportunity to turn fresh perspectives into practical improvements across the business. Their ideas led to new data dashboards, a native parts and inventory management system and automated workflows that make everyday work more efficient.
“Participating in the Intern Innovation Challenge pushed me to be as creative as possible while building a high-impact, functional solution. It also showed me how quickly I could build and test ideas by leveraging AI tools such as GIA, which saves a significant amount of time when incorporating complex ideas, like our AI photo analyzer for loose/unlabelled parts. Receiving the right guidance from team leaders helped us identify real gaps we could fill, which validated our idea and made us truly feel like we were making an impact with what we built”. – Rohan Rajanwal, Product Coordinator Intern & 2026 IIC Winner
Over the past five years, Geotab has welcomed more than 1,000 interns with alumni pursuing successful careers, and many securing full-time employment with Geotab following graduation. By pairing structured learning with real-world responsibilities, the program continues to serve as a vital talent engine for both emerging professionals and the organization.
