PaprDoll Launches Courtesy Cover, a Removable Camera Cover for Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses

As wearable-camera etiquette draws scrutiny, the patented eyewear-accessories brand gives Ray-Ban Meta wearers a visible way to cover the camera.

The idea addresses a simple problem emerging alongside the rapid adoption of camera-equipped eyewear: most people wearing smart glasses aren’t recording the people around them — at work, at dinner, at their kids’ school — but the people around them have no way of knowing that.

“We saw that as a design problem,” said Elizabeth Barnwell Meier, co-founder of PaprDoll. “I wear these glasses. We build accessories for them. We believe in the technology. But as cameras move onto something we wear on our faces all day, we’re also going to need new etiquette around them.”

That question became even more relevant following Meta Connect 2026, where Meta expanded its vision for AI glasses to include both camera-equipped models and, notably, its first Ray-Ban Meta Audio glasses without a camera, priced at $349. But millions of camera-equipped Ray-Ban Meta glasses are already in use, many fitted with prescription lenses. The Courtesy Cover gives those existing wearers a removable option for situations where they want to keep wearing their glasses without the camera exposed.

Applied across the front of the frame, the Courtesy Cover covers both the camera lens and the external capture LED, so it reads as part of the frame rather than an add-on. It can be removed when the wearer wants to use the camera and reapplied later.

The Courtesy Cover does not disable microphones or promise to disable audio, Bluetooth, voice features or every non-camera function. PaprDoll does not market the product as a privacy or security device, a guarantee against recording or a substitute for consent.

Instead, the company describes it as a visible, physical option for moments when a wearer chooses to cover the camera.

“New technology has always developed social norms,” Meier said. “We silence our phones in meetings. We put them away at dinner. Wearable technology is going to develop its own etiquette, too.”

PaprDoll was founded by mother-daughter team Maria Moore Barnwell, a former Essilor executive, and Elizabeth Barnwell Meier, a fashion-tech entrepreneur.
