Mill City Church Launches Transformational “SO THAT…” Building Initiative in Fort Collins
Fort Collins, United States – August 21, 2025 / Mill City Church /
FORT COLLINS, CO – Mill City Church has announced significant progress in their “SO THAT…” Building Initiative, a comprehensive campaign to transform their newly acquired property in the heart of Fort Collins into a permanent ministry headquarters. The initiative has already secured nearly $8 million in commitments as the congregation prepares to transition from their mobile church model to a fixed location.
The building project represents more than construction—it’s designed to serve as a launchpad for expanded community impact across Northern Colorado. Since launching in January 2022 during the church’s 21 Days of Prayer & Fasting, the initiative has garnered substantial community support, with over $4.8 million already received toward the total campaign goal.
“This building opens new doors—for ministry, outreach, and community impact,” stated Pastor Aaron Stern regarding the initiative’s vision. “Mill City has always been a mobile church. A building was never the goal—but it is a tool to help us go further, faster in the mission God has given us.”
The church’s acquisition includes a strategic property purchased for $13.275 million, with an appraised post-renovation value of $19.9 million. The comprehensive renovation budget of $5.75 million will address the main lobby, children’s check-in areas, auditorium improvements, and exterior updates. The project maintains the church’s financial commitment to spend no more than 35% of income on facilities, ensuring ministry programs remain the primary focus.
Mill City Church’s expansion comes as Colorado ranks eighth nationally for states with the largest populations of unchurched residents, while also ranking among the bottom ten states for weekly church attendance. Since the church’s founding, over 1,000 people have made decisions to follow Jesus through Mill City’s programs, with approximately 2,500 people currently calling the church “home.”
The building initiative specifically targets multiple community impact areas: serving as a lighthouse of hope for Northern Colorado’s unchurched population, providing expanded space for the rapidly growing children’s and student ministries, creating enhanced training facilities for leadership development, and establishing a launching pad for serving those in need throughout the community.
Future phases of the project include plans for an outdoor amphitheater renovation and updates to classroom spaces currently leased to Axis International Academy. The church maintains a vision for the property to serve as a “Kingdom outpost in Northern Colorado,” with programming designed to support everything from Alpha courses to holiday gatherings and community service initiatives.
The campaign encourages 100% participation from the congregation, accepting commitments ranging from ongoing monthly pledges to one-time gifts and non-cash assets including real estate, investments, and personal property. Creative giving strategies are being promoted to maximize community involvement in the historic project.
